# Kogoto Community Guidelines

Kogoto exists to help you meet real people near you. These Guidelines
explain what's expected of everyone on Kogoto, in plain language. They
work alongside the Kogoto Terms of Service, which remain the binding
legal agreement.

## The basics

Be respectful. Kogoto is built around real people meeting nearby — treat
others the way you'd want to be treated if the situation were reversed.

## Never acceptable on Kogoto

- **Harassment, stalking, or threats** of any kind.
- **Hate or violence** — content or behavior that attacks, threatens, or
  incites violence against someone based on who they are.
- **Bullying** or unwanted sexual behavior or communication.
- **Anything involving the sexual exploitation of a minor** — including
  child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, or sextortion. This is a
  zero-tolerance violation. See the Kogoto Child Safety Standards for
  Kogoto's full commitment here.
- **Sharing intimate images of someone without their consent.**
- **Scams and fraud** — trying to get money, gift cards, cryptocurrency,
  or financial/account information from another user.
- **Spam** — unsolicited advertising, repetitive messages, or automated
  behavior.
- **Impersonation** — pretending to be someone you're not, including
  another real person.
- **Doxxing or privacy violations** — sharing someone else's private
  information without their consent.
- **Illegal activity** of any kind conducted through Kogoto.
- **Intellectual-property abuse** — posting content you don't have the
  right to post.


## Spots, Events, organizers and announcements

- Spots and Events can be run by Kogoto or by independent, approved
  **Creators** (organizers, venues, businesses). A Creator is not Kogoto.
  They're responsible for the accuracy and legality of their content and
  for the real-world event they organize.
- Everything above applies to Creator content too: no illegal content,
  no impersonation of another person, venue, brand or Kogoto, no scams,
  no misleading event information, and only logos/images the Creator has
  the right to use.
- Announcements are for **operational** information (schedule changes,
  entry details, closures, safety). A Spot's organizer can send them to
  the people who joined it, to its followers, or to both; an Event's
  organizer only to people who joined the Event. No spam, unrelated
  advertising or repeated messaging. You can unfollow a Spot, or turn
  off "Spot & Event announcements" in notification settings, to stop
  receiving them.
- Creator Spots and Events are reviewed by Kogoto before they're
  shown in the app, and again after important edits.
- Spot Feed posts (updates on a Spot page) follow the same rules: no
  illegal, misleading or infringing content, no scams or spam. Liking a
  post is anonymous to everyone else (only the total is shown) and
  doesn't follow or join the Spot. Report a post from its menu.
- Report a Spot, Event, announcement or organizer in the app or at
  kogoto2026@gmail.com, including if you believe something is illegal.
  Kogoto may review, unpublish, reject or remove content and suspend
  Creator access.
## You're in control

- **Block** anyone at any time. A block is immediate and works in both
  directions — you'll no longer see or hear from each other anywhere on
  Kogoto (Nearby, messages, connection requests, Stories).
- **Report** a user, message, connection request, or Story that violates
  these Guidelines. Reporting is confidential: the person you report is
  never told who reported them, and filing a report never automatically
  blocks or restricts them — a report is reviewed before any action is
  taken.
- Blocking and reporting are separate actions. You can do either one, or
  both, from the same report screen.

## How reporting works

- Reports go to the Kogoto operator for review — never to the person you
  reported, and never automatically to anyone else.
- Reviewing a report may take time. Reporting doesn't guarantee a
  specific outcome, and Kogoto can't always share the outcome of a
  report with the reporter, to protect the safety and privacy of
  everyone involved.
- Filing a knowingly false report to harass or retaliate against another
  user is itself a violation of these Guidelines and the Terms of
  Service.
- If you are in **immediate danger**, contact your local emergency
  services directly — Kogoto is not an emergency response service and
  cannot dispatch help.

## What happens if you break these rules

Depending on the severity and pattern of behavior, Kogoto may remove
content, restrict specific features on your account (e.g. disable
messaging or Nearby), suspend your account, or permanently terminate it.
Severe violations — especially anything involving child safety — may
also be reported to law enforcement where legally required or
appropriate.

## Meeting in person, safely

Kogoto can lead to real-world meetings. A few basics:

- Meet new people in public places, especially the first time.
- Tell someone you trust where you're going and who you're meeting.
- Don't share your password or sensitive financial/personal information
  with someone you've just met.
- You can turn Nearby off at any time from Settings, or from the Nearby
  tab itself.
- Leave any situation that makes you uncomfortable — trust your
  instincts.
- Block and report anyone who makes you feel unsafe.
- For immediate danger, contact emergency services directly, not Kogoto.
